How many times have you heard people saying that health insurance can save you from unnecessary trouble? You must have heard it a lot of time, in fact, it has become a cliché. But, if you will delve more into the details, you will be compelled to say that health insurance is in best of your interest.

The cost of healthcare services are mounting on regular basis and it has become difficult in a country like US to pay regular visits to a doctor. It is not only difficult for US-citizens but for visitors as well. But, if you want to visit America in near future, you must never overlook the importance of visitor insurance USA.

What visitor insurance USA can do for you?

The concept of visitors insurance is not new but there are different insurance companies that have helped people in getting better services. Due to the increase in number of insurance companies, people have become able to enjoy better healthcare facilities while paying lesser premiums and deductibles.

In the insurance market of US, you can always find some amazing options to cope with your healthcare expenses. Visitors insurance USA is arguably one of the best options available for people paying a visit to this part of the world for studying or working.

Basically, visitors insurance is a short term insurance policy which covers all your medical expenses during your stay in another country. In case of USA, you will be entitled to enjoy following benefits.

•    A visitor insurance USA provides you the coverage for expenses incurred while your stay in a hospital.

•    Deal with your unexpected sickness through prescription drugs, medical evacuations, etc.

•    Another great thing about visitor insurance USA is that you can get outstanding plans from different insurance companies. Some of these companies can help you get such rates which are just unbeatable.

In simple words, you will never have to worry about the cost of healthcare expenses after getting a visitor insurance USA. But, it should always be kept in mind that you can not get these benefits in USA if you are a senior with an age of 65 or more. Moreover, it is not possible to get coverage for pre-existing medical condition which is understandable as it is a short-term health insurance.

So, it is not hard to deduce that visitors insurance is all about you. It is designed to help you and if you are visiting to USA then you will never find any better option than visitor insurance USA. The great thing about this insurance is that you can get benefited by the amount of coverage ranging from $25,000 to $50,000.

One of the final places of the family budget to lower expenses is car, house, health, and life insurance. On other line items, such as grocery bills, cosmetics, and utility payments, it is typically simpler to realize savings. Premiums, especially vehicle premiums, have normally been harder to lower rates on. Fortunately, things have improved a lot.

Certainly, if you are like most families, your vehicle coverage premiums are a huge component of your regular spending. Even higher rates are sure to be facing you in days to come. The likelihood is even greater if there are teenagers close to driving age in the household. Another factor is the state you live in – states like CA and PA are more expensive. It is not unusual for a family of four to shell out hundreds or even thousands of bucks each half year for their auto coverage.

Thankfully, lots of folks have discovered a great way to keep more of their own money in their bank account is to access multiple car insurance quotations from a bunch of highly rated companies. An unwanted side effect of this is the large amount of time it uses up. It also involves either getting on the telephone and calling all over town to various insurance agents, or jumping into your car and driving around to those same agents.

Honestly, you can’t say this is a wise way to use your time or energy, can you? It’s certainly not an efficient way to find the lowest cost insurance coverage. Instead, why not put modern technology to work for you? Your computer and the power of the web have created a winning situation for auto coverage buyers everywhere. Quicker than you can fix yourself a tuna fish sandwich – less than 8 minutes – the internet can put you in touch with rate quotations fr5om several insurance firms. Using this simple tactic, hundreds of dollars of savings could be in your family’s pocket.

Websites exist which allow anyone to instantly look at the quotes of many firms at once, side by side, with just a few keystrokes. What’s the sense of phoning an agent who can only provide one rate? How can you possibly know if that’s the absolute cheapest rate? I am certain you will find that the easiest, quickest way to lower your auto insurance rates is to click through to a site that gets you several competitive quotes at once.

You’ll thank me for telling you about this after you spend less than eight minutes and save tons of money.

One of the first things you should do when beginning the process of purchasing your first home is to compare homeowners insurance quotes. However, before you even do that you should speak with your bank or mortgage broker about your qualifications. If you do this then you will have a greater understanding of how much you can spend on your homeowners insurance. Once you’ve done this, you can find affordable and sufficient insurance by comparing homeowners insurance quotes online.

Homeowners insurance quotes aren’t an exact science but once you figure out the ballpark figure of how much they will be for you, you can calculate if you can afford it or not. You can do this by knowing the following:

  • Gross income – How much you earn on a monthly basis before taxes are subtracted is one component.
  • Debt – Do you have credit card or student loan debt? Many people do. Subtract your monthly expenditures in this department from your gross income and the result will be how much you can spend.

This isn’t as in depth as your finances and homeowners insurance quotes can be but it is basic. This is a simple formula for determining how much you can spend on home insurance.

Get Your Homeowners Insurance Quotes Today

If you do the math then you will know exactly how much you can afford for your homeowners insurance. Extensive coverage should also be a priority with affordability and fortunately, you can cover both by talking with a home insurance agent about what kind of homeowners insurance quotes you are eligible for.

Every man woman and child in this country should have health insurance but for some people it is nearly impossible to get health insurance. People with serious pre-existing medical conditions may have a difficult time getting coverage. This article will give some tips and suggestions that will help the uninsurable obtain health insurance.

If an insurance company turns you down for coverage due to a pre-existing medical condition there is usually a period of time that must go by before they will issue a health insurance policy. This time period is known as an exclusionary period. In 1996 The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act was passed and one of the things that this law does for people is to reduce the exclusionary period. However for some people that work in very small companies or are self-employed this law does not apply. These people must find another way to obtain health insurance.

People over the age of 65 can apply for Medicare and low income individuals can apply for Medicaid but this still leaves a large number of people that will find it very difficult to find health insurance. For people who cannot benefit from The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Medicare, or Medicaid there are a few more options.

Many states sponsor health insurance pools which these uninsurable individuals can buy into. You can learn more about these by contacting your state insurance commissioner for more information as the details vary greatly from state to state.

Another option is to contact insurance agents and ask for a referral to a company that may take on high-risk individuals. You may also contact the Patient Advocate foundation to ask for referrals and possibly even get financial assistance to help with the high co-payments.

Anyone who has had to rent a car would have had to decide whether or not to get car rental insurance. The decision however is normally not a major issue for one reason. Most types of car insurance already provide coverage for a rental vehicle. As well, some credit cards also carry car rental insurance as a benefit. This is especially true of top of the line platinum cards. If such a card is used to pay the rental fees, you may well be covered.

Types of Car Rental Insurance

Before buying rental car insurance, spend some time learning what type of coverage you will be getting. While the most common coverage is collision waiver, it is not the only type. As with any other types of car insurance, you need to read the fine print and ask questions before buying. This type of insurance removes the risk in the event of an accident to the car rental company instead of the renter. The cost of this type of policy can run up to $20 or so per day.

Other types of rental car insurance are:

Personal accident: While useful, this type of car rental insurance is also normally covered by your car insurance policy. This policy covers medical and ambulance costs in the event of an accident.
Liability insurance: This is generally covered by regular car insurance so car owners may not need this.
Personal effects: This policy is good when traveling with personal effects that may be stolen from a car. Most regular insurance doesn’t carry this, so it may be worth purchasing from a car rental company. This should be purchased if you will be traveling with valuables such as laptops.

What Should You Do?

Before deciding to pay what can add up to a hefty sum for car rental insurance, check your current insurance or call your agent. By doing this, you will be able to determine what coverage you already have and if it also applies to a rental vehicle.

For people who rent cars on a regular basis, it would be cheaper to protect yourself by increasing your regular car insurance coverage. Taking out insurance coverage every time a car is rented would add up over time. If your own insurance company doesn’t cover a rental car, still look around before signing on the dotted line at a car rental company.

If you do not own a car and therefore do not have car insurance, but plan on renting more than once for the year, consider getting non-owner liability insurance. This is ideal for frequent renters since the cost can range anywhere from $200 to $600 per year.

In short, in most cases, paying for car rental insurance may be redundant if you are already covered by your own company. The safest thing to do as a car owner is to ask your car insurance company what you are covered for. In most instances you will find that you do not need additional coverage.

Before you choose NOT to select car rental insurance when renting a car, it is important that you are completely covered from another insurance source. If not completely covered, you could end up in a financially devastating situation.

For those investors who may not be very friendly with investment options, ULIPs work as the best option. This is because everyone may not be great at managing portfolios well. However, when it comes to ULIP, one can certainly remain invested for a long period of time, receive the benefits of life cover as well as enjoy the advantages of debt or equity investment. There are a number of ULIP plans in the market and it may be a bit difficult for you to choose one. Here are a few guidelines that will enable you to select the right ULIP plan for yourself.

The most important component amongst all the benefits in terms of insurance is the life cover. The correct life cover can be calculated on the basis of your income, age, the number of dependents, etc. There are possibilities of your insurance changing as these parameters may alter as well. There is no upper limit set for the life cover. Therefore, the wisest decision that you can make is to select the product which promises maximum flexibility in terms of sum assured, payment of premium, rider options, etc. You can also check for flexibility in terms of asset allocation.

Besides the features and benefits of the products, there can be variation in the maturity pay-out on the basis of fund performance. So before you decide to part with the money, it is essential to study the fund’s track record. You can always strike a cheaper deal so remember to draw comparisons. With a number of companies providing ULIP plans, you should not regret having purchased a particular one that offered you more benefits. It is recommended that investors carry on with their policies until the time of maturity and enjoy the benefit of compounding effect and bonuses.

When purchasing a Unit Linked Insurance Plan, it is important not only to select an insurer who provides a good plan but also one which offers an efficient after-sales service as well. Therefore, you can check the claim settlement ratio in order to ensure that your claim will be settled in a smooth manner. All of this information is only accessible if the ULIP investment you that you have made is from a company which provides transparency to the customers. Depending on the policy information disclosed by the company, you can comprehend not only the policy better, but also build a certain level of trust.

If you or anyone you know has ever been through a mental health issue like depression, anxiety, burn-out or a more severe psychosis, you know how damaging it can be. The impact is not limited only to the person experiencing the problems, but also extends to friends and family who are trying to help and get caught up in the unhealthy environment.

This article will briefly touch on how some very common mental health issues could affect your ability to qualify for different types of insurance. There are different risks associated with a certain disease and the type of risk you are insuring against (i.e. life insurance vs. disability insurance coverage). Hopefully this article will shed light on some of the issues.

Getting Life Insurance with a Mental Illness

When applying for life insurance, the insurance company is typically looking for healthy candidates to insure. If you have recently been diagnosed with a major illness, like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. you cannot qualify for life insurance anymore. So what about a mental illness? These can come on very suddenly in a person’s life and last for many years, if not the rest of their life. Can you still qualify for life insurance if you have a condition like depression, anxiety, nervous breakdown or other similar diseases? The answer is really dependant on your current situation.

If your diagnosis is very recent, you will most probably be postponed for life insurance coverage for about one year. This is due to the insurance company wanting to see how well you have responded to treatments and medication after a sufficient period of time. A condition like depression can quickly worsen and lead to some very serious negative outcomes, including suicide. Anxiety that is poorly managed can lead to terrible panic attacks, phobias, and other very unhealthy behaviours. Uncontrolled mental illnesses that are not treated or managed can lead to very unhealthy lifestyle choices. Even if the person was fit and healthy before their mental illness, they could easily become addicted to food, alcohol, drugs and other things. An insurance company will not want to take on this type of risk, as the chances of things going badly in the person’s life are too great.

On the flip side, if you are able to properly manage your disease, the outcome very often is living a normal healthy life. An insurance company looks for certain positive behaviours and activities that would lead them to believe you are dealing well with your mental health issues. Did you seek treatment, counselling or the help of your doctor? Did you take medication when appropriate, and have you responded well to the medication? Are you continuing to get ongoing treatment that is helping, and is your doctor on top of your mental condition? Do you see the doctor regularly to check in with your life and ability to cope with your stress levels? If these questions are answered positively, then yes you can get insurance. With a few years of good control of a mental health issue where you are functioning normally (with or without medication) you can expect to get your insurance with standard rates. Most insurance companies will not offer preferred rates to you if you are on medication, but you can qualify for a standard policy, like an average healthy Canadian.

Getting Disability Insurance with a Mental Illness

Disability insurance is a whole different type of risk protection, and the underwriting will be very different. With life insurance, the concern is whether or not your life expectancy is shortened or are you going to live as long as an average Canadian. Disability insurance is focused on the likelihood you will be able to work, and perform your job. Here a mental illness can be a serious problem for qualifying for the insurance.

The fastest growing disability insurance claim in the workforce today is mental health issues. Stress related issues like burn-out, nervous breakdown, anxiety and depression can very quickly make a person unable to work. These sorts of mental illnesses cost the employer and insurance companies billions of dollars each year in lost productivity and claims. The insurance company will take a mental health issue very seriously.

Here is what the insurance company will be looking for when underwriting a mental illness:

Have you recently been hospitalized for your mental illness?Have you lost time from work in the last 5 years because of your mental illness? Are you on medication, and if so, how has it been working for you?Do you require ongoing counselling and support to function, or are you living a normal life without extra support? How stressful is the type of work you do, and was it your job that contributed to you developing the mental illness?

All these questions and more would be answer in the insurance company’s underwriting investigation of your application. A doctor’s report would be ordered from your family doctor and if you have ever seen a psychiatrist or psychologist, a report from them would also be required to assess your case.

The best possible outcome would be you are managing your illness very well, and there is no likelihood of serious trouble, hospitalization, or any other break-down. In this case you could get a standard policy. If your doctors feel that you are still struggling with you condition and more therapy and/or medication is needed, you could either be declined your insurance or be offered coverage with an exclusion for mental health claims (no disability benefits would be paid if you went off work for a mental health issue).

It is best to apply for disability insurance when you are stable, and any serious problems you have experienced are behind you and life has returned to normal.

Getting Critical Illness Insurance with a Mental Illness

Very much like the previous two scenarios, getting a critical illness policy when you suffer from a mental illness all depends on your current prognosis. Critical illness insurance is concerned with the risk of you getting cancer, heart attack, stroke, bypass surgery, and a whole host of other serious illnesses and injuries.

A very strong relationship between cardio vascular diseases (heart attack, stroke, bypass surgery, etc.) and stress exists. Stress in a person’s life can become unmanageable, leading to physical symptoms. While you are still unstable and dealing with a mental health condition, you would be declined for critical illness insurance. The risks are too great that you could begin to suffer from physical symptoms related to an uncontrolled mental illness. Also, as stated before, a mental illness could lead to addictive or destructive behaviour, also worsening the health of a previously fit individual.

If you are controlling your mental illness and living a normal life, then you should qualify for critical illness insurance. There might be a small rating of 25 – 50% more premium than the average person since the risks of stress related chronic illnesses would still exists for you. This would still be a good offer considering what you have been through and what you will be dealing with for possibly the rest of your life.

In summary, mental illness and mental health issues are very common. Insurance companies see these cases all the time and have a great deal of experience underwriting insurance for people who are suffering from and managing a mental illness. Just like any other illness, you can’t get the insurance while you are in the middle of a crisis. You can’t get the insurance when you have recently been in hospital or had a major event related to your mental illness. You need to be at a healthy and stable place in your life when you apply. You need to be in control of your life and your illness with a secure, if not bright, future ahead. We all know anything can happen to us at any time, and that is why we buy insurance. Your mental illness should not increase your risks when you apply, but should in effect be neutralized through treatment and control.

If you thought you were uninsurable because of a mental illness, it never hurts to get some professional advice. You can speak with us at Life Guard Insurance in the strictest confidence to see whether or not you could qualify for insurance and risk protection.

In a straight comparison of like for like drivers, the fairer sex can expect anything up to £300 less on their car insurance which is almost beyond compare. Women’s car insurance benefits from specialist insurers which only deal with women drivers. The niche market is growing however, as insurers base their rates on pure statistical risk, and with women the fact is the risk is much less than with their male counterparts.

When insurers are weighing up how to price their car insurance, the factors they take into account will adjust the variable price. These factors include, the make of car, the age of car, the specification of the vehicle, the age of the driver, the geographic location but perhaps most importantly the sex if the driver.

Of all the variables, gender is one of the most important which determines the overall price when you compare women’s car insurance with men’s. Of course it isn’t a coincidence that women also tend to choose more modest cars with a smaller engine size and lower spec.

The cars which do not emphasise high performance tend to be ones which have more plentiful and cheap replacement parts, have cheaper labour costs to repair, and are easier to fix bodywork on. Taking these factors into account would make any car insurance cheaper, not just for females.

However, statistics show that when comparing the sexes, men tend to break the law a lot more often in their cars than women do. Approximately 90 per cent of all driving bans and convictions in Britain are attributable to male drivers, which speaks volumes to car insurers who are looking for careful drivers.

Although women have fewer convictions than men, the number of insurance claims that they make is roughly the same as men. What is interesting is that on average, when you compare women’s car insurance claims with men’s insurance claims, there is a huge discrepancy in cost.

Even when women do have accidents and make a claim on their car insurance, their costs are statistically much lower than when men claim. This is not only to do with the difference in cars that are driven, but also linked to the severity of the damage when men and women drive.

As a generalisation, women drive slower, safer and with more concentration than men, which is why they have fewer convictions but also why when they do have accidents the cost of repair is much less on

Health insurance is a formal agreement to provide medicare service. In short, it pays in lump sum for medical treatment. Buying health insurance policy is a one of the important thing that you must do in your life to protect yourself and and your family against huge medical bills.

Health insurance policies are often consist of many interconnected parts and you must understand it. This is why prior to selecting an insurance it is ideal to compare multiple health insurance policies available in the market. To think through logically, each policy describes what medical services are covered and not covered by the insurance company. Finding the right kind of coverage is a priority of every person who is looking for health insurance. It will be easier if you know how to compare the different health insurance policies.

In the current scenario, many leading companies are offering health insurance policies. In these, some are private companies and some are government companies. All of the policies have their own set for condition, coverage and benefits. Look at the services that are covered by the insurance company and evaluate them against your health needs. Services can be include for consideration such as doctors fees limit, hospital stays, prescription drug coverage, etc.

Health insurance policies are always costlier compared to other life insurance policies. Here, you must consider the premium rates to determine the which policy is the most cost effective. By comparing the premium rates of various insurance plans you can easily find out your affordable health insurance plan. But, it doesn’t mean you should go in cheap and policy coverage will shorter than your needs. For the cost, another way is to choose high deductible plan to save more on premiums.

You can consider the group health insurance policy for the cost saving . A cost of individual health insurance policy is expensive compared to group policy.

Often, insurance companies offers discount on their plans. You can consider such a plans to save more on your health insurance cover. Purchase the policy that will suits to your needs.

Health insurance often requires a mountain of paperwork that has a lot of fine print. Unfortunately, this means that few people read their plans thoroughly nor do they fully understand what their plan covers or does not cover. Here are some common limitations in health insurance coverage that you should know.

Some of the most shocking health insurance limitations are found in the the fine print holes in the insurance policy. For instance, many people have found that their health insurance did not cover a routine or necessary medical procedure because they did not receive an authorization code prior to the procedure or the hospital did not correctly fill out the paperwork. Your medical claim can be denied simply because the hospital used odd codes for your treatment. While any claims denied by the insurance company can be disputed, this process is not only tedious, but time-consuming and draining, especially for someone who is already ill. There is also little success in winning disputed claims, which makes this option rather limiting.

Another surprising health insurance limitation happens more often than people realize. Imagine this situation: you are diagnosed with a medical condition and need an operation. You research surgeons and hospitals within your plan. You understand your plan’s coverage of hospital care. You have your operation and then you find a massive medical bill in the mail. Apparently your health insurance did not cover the anesthesiologist or other specialists that may have consulted in your operation.

Thus, you have to pay these specialists for their services, even though you were under the impression that your plan would cover these costs associated with the surgery. Such a bill can be in the thousands of dollars, and there is little you can do to dispute the charges. The only way to avoid these charges is to make sure that you ask before the operation who will be involved and ensure that they are covered in your health insurance plans.

Other limitations are put on a number of treatments. For instance, you may need physical therapy or visits to a psychiatrist. Many health insurance plans will put a limit on the number of covered visits for such medical treatment. Without realizing it, you may surpass the maximum visits allowed by your health insurance and end up racking up huge bills.

Many people think that buying health insurance will cover them medically, but this is only correct to a point. When securing insurance, you should read through your health insurance package carefully, and when you are about to undergo any expensive medical procedure, be sure to consult your health insurance plan first.

Got questions about health insurance? Here are the top 10 health insurance questions and answers:

1. What kinds of health insurance plans are there?

There are two basic types of health insurance plans – indemnity plans and managed health care plans. Indemnity plans let you choose your own physician, while managed health care plans – HMOs, PPOs, and POSs – assign you to a network of physicians and hospitals. Managed health care plans are less flexible, but much cheaper than indemnity plans.

2. What’s an HMO?

With an HMO you pay a monthly premium for which you are assigned to a network of physicians, specialists, and hospitals who provide your medical care. A primary care physician oversees your care and you can only see physicians within your network. Prescriptions may completely covered or partially covered and generally require a co-payment of $5 to $10. This is the cheapest type of health insurance.

3. What’s a PPO?

A PPO is similar to an HMO, but it allows you to visit non-network physicians without a referral from your primary care physician. You may have to pay for the non-network physicians fee, then get partial reimbursement from your PPO provider. Co-payments are generally $5 to $10, and this plan costs a little more than an HMO.

4. What’s a POS?

A POS plan is a combination of an HMO and a POS plan. You choose a primary care physician within your network, but you can also see physicians outside the network. If your primary care physician refers you to an outside physician your POS provider picks up the costs. This is the most flexible and the most costly of the three managed health care plans.

5. What is a deductible?

A deductible is the amount you pay toward a claim before the insurance company pays.

6. What’s coinsurance?

Coinsurance is the percentage of your medical expenses you have to pay after you pay your deductible.

7. What is a co-payment?

A co-payment is the amount you must pay when you visit a physician.

8. How do I choose a health insurance plan?

Ideally, you want to choose a plan that will give you the most amount of benefits for the least amount of money. If you want to continue seeing your current physician, find out what plans he or she is associated with. And if you have special medical needs, make sure the plan you choose will provide for those needs.

Other things to consider when choosing a health insurance plan are:

* What are the co-payments, deductibles, and coinsurances?

* Does the plan cover pre-existing conditions?

* What is the waiting period for pre-existing conditions?

* Will the insurance company give me good service?

9. Where can I get cheap health insurance?

Insurance premiums vary substantially from one company to another, so you want to get quotes from several companies in order to get the best price.

The quickest way to get quotes from different companies is to go to an insurance comparison website. Once there you’ll fill out a short questionnaire, then receive your quotes. The best comparison sites only deal with A-rated insurance companies so you know you’ll be getting a reputable company. They also have an insurance expert on call to answer your questions. (See link below.)

10. How do I know I’m getting a reliable health insurance company?

One of the best places to check out an insurance company is your state’s department of insurance website. You can also visit J.D. Power & Associate’s website (jdpower.com) to get consumer ratings on insurance companies, and A.M. Best’s website (ambest.com) to get financial ratings.

“Those magnificent men in their flying machines…” Ever since the Wright brothers pioneered our ascent into the skies we have strived to fly higher, faster, further with aeronautical advancements surpassing one another at an ever-increasing rate.

Taking to the skies is, of course, much more than the romantic notions upheld in quaint versions of “Up, up and Away” or “Come fly me, let’s fly, let’s fly away…” It is, for most aircraft owners, a significant part of their livelihood and not to be contemplated without the proper insurance.

Aviation insurance is different from other forms of insurance in that it is very subjective. Due to the vast array of aircraft types, uses and pilot experience, policies should always be specifically tailored to suit the unique requirements of each individual applicant. For this reason it is recommended that a broker, specialising in aviation insurance be engaged to arrange cover.

When applying for aviation insurance, several matters will be taken into account including:

• Sum insured: Aviation policies are divided into

i. Hull: The loss of or damage to the aircraft.

ii. Liability: Loss of or damage to property belonging to others and/or bodily injury to others as a result of the insured’s negligence

Aviation insurance is based on “agreed value”. This means that, in the event of a total loss in respect of the hull, the amount agreed to in the policy is what will be paid upon acceptance of the claim.

It is vital that the aircraft be insured for its true value as major difficulties can arise for the owner if the amount is under or overinsured. For example, if an aircraft is grossly underinsured, the agreed value will not be enough to enable the owner to replace it.

In the case of overinsurance, the insurer may decide to approve a lengthy repair process, costing more than the market value but less than the agreed value. This will result in major delays to plans of getting “back in the air”.

Liability is a different issue with settlements determined in most large cases by the courts.

• Type of aircraft: Generally, helicopters cost more to insure than fixed wing aircraft. Here in Australia, this is partly due to the manners in which they are employed, for example, mustering livestock and heavy industrial use.

Helicopter accidents are also more likely to result in a total loss of the aircraft than fixed wing accidents. What would seem a relatively minor “heavy landing” in a fixed wing aircraft would most likely write-off a helicopter.

The best way to ensure the lowest price possible is quoted for the aircraft, fixed wing or rotary, is to be clear with the insurer exactly what it will be used for. For business owners, it may be worthwhile considering whether diversifying from the central business function is worthwhile if diversification results in more hazardous usage of the aircraft.

• Pilot Experience: Pilot experience and qualifications are the most important aspects of determining the amount of the premium and level of coverage. In some cases, cover may not be extended if the pilot has not enough hours in the air logged.

If any persons other than the owner are to be flying the aircraft it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure all details regarding additional pilots be accurate and up to date. Inaccurate information can lead to a claim being rejected. There are basically three types of pilots able to fly the insured aircraft:

i. Owner: Self explanatory

ii. Open Pilot Warranty: The Open Pilot Warranty (OPW) is the minimum standard of requirements that must be met in order for a pilot to fly the insured aircraft. Although names of OPW pilots do not have to be notified to the insurer, it is crucial to ensure that all OPW pilots meet the requirements for the insured aircraft. Remember that the OPW for one type of aircraft may not be satisfactory for another.

iii. Named Pilots: These are persons you will be permitting to fly the aircraft but who do not meet the OPW standards. Using Named Pilots will generally mean a higher premium.

It is useful to consider the insurer’s position here. An aircraft is a high level of risk to the insurer. In order to underwrite that risk it must be worthwhile. Since most aircraft accidents are statistically due to pilot error, more premium must be charged for less experienced pilots to justify the risk.

Once cover is granted, renewal after one year is not always automatic.

As the renewal date approaches, cover is re-evaluated along with the premium. This can have a positive outcome as pilot experience and any additional training undertaken will be considered when calculating the new premium.

Overall, the main issue to be understood is that all information given regarding the aircraft to be insured and its pilot(s) is to be as accurate and up to date as possible. Whether or not this leads to a premium one may deem “cheap” is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the premium will be a true reflection of the risk.

And that is as insurance should be.

Everyone knows what insurance is, and how to get it. But what do you do with when you’ve got it? If you had to make a claim, would you know what to do? This 3 part guide covers what to do in the event of a claim, continuing with home insurance.

Home Insurance

Depending on the nature of the claim, there are certain things which you need to do. If you’re a victim of a robbery or vandalism, you need to first of all inform the police. Make lists of all stolen items and/or damaged property, as well as photographs or videos of the latter, with copies. When the police arrive, take their names and badge numbers for your insurer’s records. You will also need copies of your statement and any other police paperwork to give to your insurer, as well as copies for yourself.

If you or someone else is injured in your home, medical assistance should be sought as soon as possible. Keep all records of hospital visits, prescriptions and doctors notes, and provide copies for your insurer. Again, try to get relevant photographic evidence of injuries and the scene of the accident, and any objects which may have contributed to the injuries.

Another common reason for claiming on house insurance is renovations and/or decorating disasters. If you have hired professionals to carry out work in your home and they cause damages, they should have insurance which you can claim from. If you cause the damages yourself, you will need to claim on your own insurance, but this can be difficult. Before undertaking any work more complicated than painting or wallpapering, check your policy. You may need to inform your insurer of your intention to carry out work, otherwise a claim could be rendered invalid.

If repairs are needed for something like a leaky pipe or water damage, call your insurer before a repair company. Your insurance provider should be able to give you a list of recommended repairers which are available on 24 hour call-out.

In the case of a natural disaster such as a flood or hurricane, you will need to notify the insurer and possibly your local council if your property is damaged. The authorities may provide a safe house or other assistance if your home is severely damaged. If the natural disaster was anticipated through weather warning etc, there may be a contingency plan in place already to help victims.

In some cases, you may be able to afford repairs without claiming on your insurance. Do this if possible as a number of small claims will end cheap home insurance premiums. It’s worth getting both buildings and contents insurance if you’re a DIY fan!

State Owen, reinsurance has recently received permission to increase their rates across the entire state property insurance coverage, in some places by as much as 10%. The average rate increase across the state will be 5.4% with coastal homes paying 7.3% more than a large number of inland homes paying 10% more.

This rate increase will affect approximately one million Florida reside who rely upon Citizens for their home coverage. While previously Citizens was seen as a lower end, last resort option for most home owners today have become the largest provider of home insurance in Florida. This rate increase also comes the same time that Citizens is privatizing many of contracts that they currently hold to private insurance provider organizations in order to minimize the potential for the state government to have funding problems should a disaster occur.

While this may come as a surprise to many Florida residents as the Florida peninsula has not had any major disaster since tropical storm Wilma in 2005 the main reason for the rate increase is not to recuperate losses incurred by some recent damage but to spread out the financial burden disasters caused over a number of years. That way Citizens can be better able to provide for its customers in times of need and provide claims payouts should disasters occur.

If you’re a Citizens customer and disagree with this rate increase there are always a number of options available to you. One of the best ways to see what is out there and compare your current rates to other insurance companies is to do a simple search online for providers in your area. Using specialized insurance search engines your online searches can allow you to easily compare and contrast different quotes and policy offerings from different companies as well as get the latest information on local dealings. Searching online is something that everyone should do every time their insurance policy comes up for renewal or they file a claim in order to make sure that they are getting the best policy for the money possible. It’s your money, so don’t settle for less.

If you’re stuck and need some help finding good information online try using Ezquoteguide.com for finding the right local insurance information you need right away to help you fulfill your auto insurance needs.

It is a grim subject, planning for one’s death. Thankfully, pre-need insurance gives people the option to not only write their wills and buy life insurance, but also plan and pay for their funeral in advance.

Considering the current economic climate, should you consider buying pre-need insurance? And if so, how should you go about purchasing it?

Pre-need insurance is money set aside to specifically cover the predetermined costs associated with a funeral, cremation or burial. It can cover a whole host of products (casket, hearse, flowers) and services (embalming, digging and filling the grave).

It’s helpful to have because it simplifies the funeral and burial process, and gives families peace of mind during their time of grief. Rather than having to scramble quickly to make the proper arrangements under stress, it locks in all costs at the time of purchase and avoids burdening loved ones with unexpected expenses.

“Many consumers find that they want to control how their lives and deaths are going to go,” says Dean Lambert, VP of Marketing for Homesteaders Life Company in West Des Moines, Iowa. “They figure out what the funeral costs is today, and they pick a plan that will grow over time to cover costs. People don’t want to leave financial and other burdens to their loved ones when they die. [Also], it avoids conflict. When the family does get together, they can reflect on the life that was lived instead of fighting over the details of death.”

Typically, pre-need insurance coverage policies can cover funeral expenses ranging from $500 to $25,000 on a single-premium payment. Premiums are a function of the total cost of the purchased funeral products and services. The rates will depend on the age of the person, several underwriting questions, the price of the funeral plan chosen, and the mode of pay. An individual or family can select a plan that features a single premium, or they can pay in installments of three, five, seven and 10 years.

According to the FTC, traditional funeral costs can run anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000 or more. Going through a funeral home first allows you to sign a contract and know the specific costs of the funeral and burial, instead of forking over thousands of dollars to an insurance company without knowing if it will fully cover all costs.

There are things to be wary of when shopping for pre-need insurance. When meeting with the funeral director, be sure to investigate the insurance company with which they are affiliated. Inquire about what kind of company they are, if they specialize in funeral funding, how they invest their premiums. Companies like Homesteaders Life, Assurant Solutions and Forethought Life Insurance Co. are the industry leaders.

As the pre-need insurance market has grown, the FTC has implemented new rules and regulations to reign in unscrupulous funeral directors who oversell naïve customers. “The Funeral Rule”, among other things, “requires funeral directors to give you itemized prices in person and … over the phone.” It also asserts your right to buy individual goods and services, as opposed to a package.

Probably one of the first rules most of us are taught is “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  This golden rule, whether taught by a parent, teacher or religious leader, is a cornerstone for many as it serves as a practical guide to everyday life.

As insurance professionals deal with the public, the golden rule takes on more than a philosophical meaning.  The practical level of such a statement applies to the basic code of ethics that agents must use not only in their personal lives, but also, in their daily responsibilities in their business dealings.

Many believe that social behavior that favors the group over the individual should be emphasized.  But there are four basic obstacles that must be dealt within order to act ethically.

One. The primary obstacle has to do with concern for self versus others.  This obstacle could prevent the individual from looking out for the “common good” of society, as opposed to making a decision purely on the individual’s own happiness and welfare.  From an insurance standpoint, this means that agents should put the interests of their clients ahead of their own good.

Two.  The second obstacle relates to the intuition versus rationalism obstacle.  While some philosophers believe that humans intuitively know what is right, others tell us we must use pure reason to uncover what is right.  The problem in the insurance industry is “does one have a ready excuse for improper behavior because he/she did not know the rules?  In order to apply reason in the insurance profession, we must know the rules!  One realizes the importance of proper training when this  precept  is  used.   However, realistically speaking, even without proper training, if something doesn’t “feel right, it probably is not right, and the action should be avoided.

Three.  The third obstacle pits absolutism against relativism. One school of thought believes that certain actions, in and of themselves, are always right.  This is called  absolutism. Another school  believes that whether an action is good or right depends upon the particular circumstances of a situation. This is relativism.  As insurance professionals market their services, they are obligated to follow the rules that have been instituted to spell out what is considered to be right or wrong. This would be an example of absolutism.  However, when dealing with the multitude of clients needs, the insurance professional must offer different solutions for different clients, thus relativism is being practiced.

Four.  The fourth obstacle deals with the possible conflict between religious teaching and individual authority.  Most religions delineate right from wrong according to a strict code of authority.  Some philosophers reject such a notion and stress that each individual creates their own set of values.  Religions vary widely as to practices and beliefs as do individual values.  However, most of the religions and individual value systems agree on one basic rule: The golden rule, overall, ethics can be narrowed down to one general definition, which Albert Schweitzer left for the ages.  “Ethics is the name we give to our concern for good behavior.  We feel an obligation to consider not only our own personal well being but also that of others and of human society as a whole.”  To summarize such a definition, only three words are needed: Regard for others.
